What was on the land where the Monkey Junction Walmart and Lowe’s Home Improvement were built?

Tim Buckland

It was a big softball field complex, according to New Hanover County Senior Planner Sam Burgess. He said the site hosted tournaments each summer.

“I recall that the area was extremely popular during the weekends with out of town teams coming in to compete. Residential home owners nearby always complained about the noise, lights, and traffic generated by the event,” Burgess said.
