Where would I have bought crystals, tarot cards and similar items near Wrightsville Beach?

Amanda Lisk

Q: There used to be this new age bookstore on the way to Wrightsville Beach that I would go to with my mom when I was maybe 11 or 12 in the early ’90s. You could get crystals, tarot cards, candles, that kind of thing. We even went to a couple of seminars there. I always look for it when I drive out there, even though I’m sure it isn’t there anymore, and I can’t remember exactly where it was. But it makes me sad; I want to go.

A: That could have been Bristol Books, or at least that’s what area book stores and folks at the Wrightsville Beach Museum suggest. Bristol Books opened in 1990 in the old Galleria where Harris Teeter used to be on the way to Wrightsville Beach. (It has since been torn down.) Bristol Books later moved to Lumina Station and closed in 2005.

Now, there is Wrightsville Beach Rocks just before the Wrightsville Beach bridge, which sells crystals, hosts seminars on the healing benefits of crystals and teaches yoga.

And Pomegranate Books, which opened when Bristol Books closed and actually has some of their shelves, is at 4418 Park Ave. in Wilmington, (910) 452-1107.
