When will the Department of Transportation do something about the corner of Sanders and River roads?

Ken Little

Q. When is the Department of Transportation going to do something about the dangerous, accident-prone area at the corner of Sanders and River roads, and the hazardous curve south on River Road near Turtle Cay condos?

A. A project is planned to construct a roundabout at the intersection of Sanders Road and River Road “that we are planning on letting to contract in the next few months pending approval of bids,” said David B. Leonard, DOT Division 3 design engineer.

Leonard said he is not aware of any planned DOT project in the vicinity of the curve near the Turtle Cay Condos.

He forwarded that information to the DOT’s regional traffic safety engineer to investigate the location.
