How long has the elevator in Wilmington’s Second Street parking deck been out of service?

Julian March

The elevator has had ongoing maintenance issues, said Betty Gurganus, the city’s parking manager.

The elevator went down previously this year and was fixed and then broke again just before the N.C. Azalea Festival. It has since been fixed again.

Ultimately, the elevator needs to be completely replaced, Gurganus said.

“Right now we’re just patching it until we can get the funding,” she said. She said the replacement elevator should be funded in the 2014-15 city budget.
