Q: When are they planning on paving Shipyard Boulevard? Since they are working on Third Street, that makes Shipyard the worst major road in the city now, especially going from South College Road to Carolina Beach Road.

A: The N.C. Department of Transportation is looking at milling and resurfacing Shipyard Boulevard in 2013, said Alton Edgerton, NCDOT Division 3 staff engineer.

“The tentative schedule will be between March and November of 2013,” Edgerton said.

“This work may not include the entire section between Carolina Beach Road and College Road. However, we are anticipating being able to do the section from College Road to 17th Street,” he said.

Once resurfacing allocations are determined, Division 3 officials will have a better idea of “what the limits will be,” Edgerton said.

Why do they allow heavy trucks on Shipyard Boulevard?

When was the last time Shipyard Boulevard got resurfaced? It seems that it needs serious attention.
