The answer may be buried in the pages of municipal history, said Donald Bennett, traffic engineer for the city of Wilmington.

The street is maintained by the city. Bennett said it was entered into city traffic schedules as a one-way street in 1985.

“We will have to do more research to find out why this was done, and since those records are well beyond the retention period, we may not be able to get an absolute answer,” Bennett said.

Stay tuned.
