Orton Plantation’s new owners remain vague about their plans for the Brunswick County property. But as of now, there is no indication that the plantation will open to the public anytime soon.

“We are currently focused on the restoration of Orton Plantation and this process will continue for the next couple of years,” Orton Plantation spokesman Mike Hubbard said in a statement. “We will release periodic updates on the status of the restoration efforts and future plans for the property.”

London-based hedge fund manager Louis Moore Bacon, a descendant of the family that built the property, bought Orton Plantation late in 2010. It has been closed for renovations since June 2010.

Workers have stabilized land on the riverfront and cleared trees from the property to restore the long-leaf pine forest.
