When will Time Warner offer DOCSIS 3.0 (wideband) Internet in Wilmington?

Ken Little

Time Warner Cable is being tight-lipped about its wideband Internet roll out in Wilmington.

“We do have plans to launch, but we have not narrowed down a launch date (or) time,” company spokeswoman Andi Curtis said.

They won’t roll it out in Wilmington yet because they don’t have to. There really is no competition (speed wise anyway) in the area that they serve. Why spend the money to upgrade the infrastructure? When Verizon FIOS or something similar comes here, you will see them ramp up to match speeds and pricing.

scolaw, Verizon has announced FIOS will not be rolled out to any further Metro areas then they already service. Unless ATT brings bundled service packages, doesn’t look like TW will do anything to change service or pricing anytime soon unfortunately.

I actually spoke to someone higher up in TWC’s commercial side and was told DOCSIS 3.0 should be rolled out in Wilmington within the next two months. Not holding my breath but I will cross my fingers.

Time Warner finally rolled it out on December 7th. I guess my previous comment was wrong. They have 50m/bits down and 5m/bits up , and a package with 30m/bits down and 5m/bits up. They also increased all of there existing speeds at no cost to us. For example…10 m/bits down and 512k/bits up is now 20m/bits down and 2m/bits up.

Yep I already signed up for the 30×5 service. Kudos Time Warner.
