Why has Taco Bell not started construction on its restaurant in Shallotte?

Wayne Faulkner

The initial plan for a Taco Bell on Main Street in Shallotte near Walmart, was approved Sept. 14, 2010, said Allen Serkin, town planning director. But, he said, “they haven’t finished getting all their permits. I don’t know why.”

The developers still must get final site plan approval, and grading and building permits, he said. “There shouldn’t be any problem getting their permits,” he added.

Serkin said he hasn’t heard from the company in the last month and a half.
