Why do newspapers – StarNews included – endorse candidates?

Si Cantwell

As of 2013, the StarNews no longer endorses candidates, effective with the 2012 primary. We do make recommendations on ballot issues such as bond issues and constitutional amendments.

The News Paper should not have an opinion on politics at all! The news should stay impartial and only present the facts. By endorsing a candidate the newspaper does influence voters and that influences the news papers distribution. I cancelled my subscription!

At least the Star News is honest about hating the Republican party. Like most media outlets they are liberal lovers.
