What is being built in the Brunswick Forest Shopping Center?

Wayne Faulkner

Work has begun on the Blue Wave Dentistry building in the Villages of Brunswick Forest.

A crane stands on the site of what will be a 4,644-square-foot structure, which is going up next to the New Hanover Regional Medical Center facility, according to Tobin Spirer, spokesman for Brunswick Forest.

The medical facility is finished and open.

Blue Wave is being built by Adams Construction for two dentists, Dr. John Sweeney and partner Dr. Chad Biggerstaff, Spirer said. They are moving their practice from Waterford, he said.

Adams Construction is targeting early fall for completion, Spirer said.

More building is anticipated in the commercial section of the giant Brunswick Forest development in Leland.

Lowes Foods is under contract to build an approximately 47,500-square-foot market, and the start of construction is anticipated by year-end, Spirer said.

CVS pharmacy is also under contract and is expected to construct a building of about 13,000 square feet in the Villages, with a year-end construction start anticipated, Spirer added.

Brunswick Forest itself also plans a retail building of 5,000 to 6,000 square feet next to Lowe’s. The building is very similar to the structure that holds the Port City Java cafe and the Brunswick County Sheriff’s substation, Spirer said.

The remaining space in the building has been leased by dentist Dr. Michele Singer, he added.
