The old downtown drug store at Front and Market has an “under contract” sign. What is going into that space?

Wayne Faulkner

The former Toms Drugs building at 1 N. Front St. is under contract, according to Keith Austin, who is co-lister of the property with Charlie Rivenbark of Maus, Warwick & Matthews & Co.

Because the deal has not been completed, Austin said he could not reveal much. But he did say that the first floor would be used for retail. The prospective buyers are a local investment group, Austin said. This is the first time the building has come under contract, though there have been two previous offers, he said.
