Why are the street repairs at 41st Street and Oleander Drive taking so long?

Merton Vance

A sewer project started in December turned out to be more complicated than anticipated, said Carey Ricks, public relations officer for the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority.

“This project included the complete replacement of a four-way manhole and associated wastewater conveyances,” she said. “Additionally, since the beginning of this project, this region has experienced periods of inclement weather that impacted construction and paving progress.

“The repairs to the wastewater system were completed on January 13th, traffic patterns reestablished, and curbing and paving work is now being coordinated and completed.”
