The fence in the median in front of Hoggard High School often gets hit by cars and damaged. Who pays to have it fixed?

Ken Little

Taxpayers do not bear the brunt of expenses incurred by careless motorists driving into the fence in front of the high school at 4305 Shipyard Blvd., says Joseph Chance, N.C. Department of Transportation deputy division traffic engineer.

“Generally, an accident report is prepared by the officer covering the accident. The driver’s insurance company covers the cost of repairs to the fence,” Chance says.
