What’s the status of the boat landing upgrades on Fish Factory Road in Brunswick County?

Shelby Sebens

The renovations to the Wildlife Resources Commission’s boat landing on Fish Factory Road at Oak Island are complete. Workers finished putting up new docks last week, said Erik Christofferson, division chief of engineering services for the state agency.

The $250,000 to $300,000 project included expanding and paving the parking lot, which was done a couple of months ago.

The site renovations also included a new courtesy dock, located away from the boat ramps so boaters can pick up and drop off people.

The renovations, however, did not include restrooms, and no further renovations are planned for the site.

“That’s it for now,” Christofferson said.

The renovation was paid for with boat registration fee funds.
