Why did Time Warner move its office staff to the new building on Wrightsville Avenue?

The reader’s full question:

Why did Time Warner move its office staff to the new building on Wrightsville Avenue although its prior building nearby at Dawson Street Extension was given a face lift and is unoccupied?

Time Warner Cable retains staff in both buildings, company spokeswoman Andi Curtis said.

Warehouse employees and the Time Warner engineering team still work out of the Dawson Street facility, Curtis said. The News 14 Carolina staff, along with the commercial and media sales teams, are in the Wrightsville Avenue building.

“It’s all about space and accommodating staff,” Curtis said.

Time Warner employees also work out of several other locations in Wilmington. Administrative staff and call center employees are in a building on Shipyard Boulevard, while technicians and the dispatch team are based on Netherlands Drive, between Gordon Road and Market Street.

The Time Warner Cable Store at Independence Mall “is a one-of-a-kind in the cable industry,” Curtis said.
