Has the Brunswick Nature Park kayak launch been rebuilt after being destroyed in June 2010?

The kayak launch at Brunswick Nature Park has been replaced, but the vandals are still at large.

In June 2010, a Brunswick County sheriff’s deputy discovered that portable toilets and trash cans had been knocked down, a fence destroyed and the kayak launch was missing in the county’s new park, which opened in December 2009 off of N.C. 133.

It was later determined that wood from the fence had been set ablaze on the kayak launch and floated down Town Creek.

The new kayak launch was installed in mid-October 2010. It cost $7,500, according to an invoice sent by Wilmington-based Coastal Carolina Streetscapes in October 2010.
