Why are there no stop signs on Torchwood Boulevard?

Ken Little
StarNews

Torchwood Boulevard in the Ogden area of New Hanover County is a “collector road” and has a high average daily traffic count, said Jennifer Garifo, N.C. Department of Transportation spokeswoman.

“Because of the high amount of traffic, it does not warrant any stop signs until it intersects with another state-maintained roadway with a greater average daily traffic count and roadway characteristics greater than Torchwood,” Garifo said.

This street is like the audobahn. I’ve never seen anything like it. The street signs should say “drive and walk at your own risk” Dangerous as heck!

Torchwood is a narrow neighborhood oriented road and was never intended as a thoroughfare, shortcut, between Porters Neck or Ogden and Gordon Road or North College. Drivers using this road should slow down and respect other peoples rights as local homeowners. As previously stated about the Hampstead area, the lack of law enforcement of our traffic laws in the Ogden, Porters Neck area is obvious.
