The N.C. Department of Motor Vehicles requires applicants for drivers’ licenses or state ID cards to provide a valid Social Security card along with:
“Proof of age and identity, which includes providing your full name (including your middle name or initial) and date of birth. You will need a total of two documents from this category, one of which must show your date of birth,” according to the N.C. DMV website.
