BRUNSWICK COUNTY Free Spay/Neuter for Dogs and Cats
No-cost spay/neuter vouchers are now being distributed to qualifying Brunswick County residents with companion animals (strays are not eligible). Vouchers are only for spay/neuter surgeries and do not cover the cost of shots and other services. Applicants must demonstrate financial need by offering proof that their household income is at or below the current U.S. Department of Health and Human Services poverty guidelines. To apply for a voucher, stop by Brunswick County Animal Services Monday through Friday, 10am to 3:30pm. Proof of income and residency required at time of application. Just so you know: Friends of Felines does not spay/neuter pets. They are a volunteer organization to help the overpopulation of Feral (wild) cats in NH Co. If anyone goes to them with a non-feral cat (pet/stray), they will get turned away.
If you can not afford to to get a pet spayed or neutered, then you can not afford a pet (rescued or not, it is still the same). Take half of what a pet costs and donate it to Haiti, Chile, maybe an orphanage in your own geographical region, etc, etc., etc…
I rather have a pet in a loving home, regardless of income, than have them euthanized or stray/ homeless. $ 100 for a spay/ neuter will buy a lot of pet food. My grandparents took in strays as long as they lived- and they had food ,shelter and love. The spay/ neuter costs would have put an immense strain on their meager retired incomes . Getting it done for free would have been a act of kindness for all involved.People are so heartless these days. It’s a good thing God loves us all, even the undeserving.
