What’s the lowest score that a restaurant can receive from the health department and continue to operate?

If a restaurant gets a score of 70 or below from a county health inspector,  it cannot remain open, according to Diane Harvell, environmental health services manager for the New Hanover County Health Department.

If a restaurant gets a low score that’s above 70, managers can request a re-inspection, giving them a chance to stay open but correct problems.

But below that mark “They’ve got to close right then,” she said.

Cudos to the New Hanover County Health Dep. inspectors for all of their under appreciated work. No telling what problems we would have if it weren’t for these dedicated county employees. Bob

so has a restaurant ever been shut down in recent times in Wilmington? It seems pretty difficult to get less than a 70%.
