Is the New Hanover County Humane Society a ‘no-kill’ shelter?

Vicky Eckenrode
StarNews

Though technically not a no-kill shelter, the New Hanover Humane Society’s facility adopts out most of the dogs and cats it takes in, shelter workers said.

In the rare cases animals are put down, workers use lethal injections and not a gas chamber to euthanize.

The shelter is located at 2405 N. 23rd St.
