The property on New Centre Drive is a Staybridge Suites extended-stay hotel, said Jamison Fair, the city’s senior planner for current planning.
The hotel is expected to open by April, according to Ashok Patel, owner of the hotel. The hotel has begun staffing the facility, he said.
The hotel, which he calls “upscale,” will have a kitchen in every unit. Patel said that the Staybridge Suites in Wilmington is a mirror image of one that is operating in Columbia, S.C.
To see what it’s like, go to www.staycolumbia.com. Including Wilmington, Staybridge has five hotels in North Carolina: two in Charlotte; one in Durham-Chapel; and another serving the Raleigh-Durham airport, in Morrisville.
