Clubs that feature live country music are few and far between in Southeastern North Carolina.
Venues like The Soapbox (www.TheSoapboxlive.com), The Whiskey (www.MySpace.com/WilmingtonWhiskey) and Wild Wing Cafe (www.WildWingCafe.com) have the occasional country music band, but they also feature a wide variety of other music.
The City Limits Saloon in downtown Wilmington (www.hellyeahwilmington.com) is a country-themed bar, featuring DJs playing country music and mechanical bull riding, but they rarely feature live country music. (The next scheduled show is by cover band Spare Change — www.SpareChangeMusic.net — playing Feb. 19.)
Know of any places for live country music or any other country-themed bars or nightclubs in the area? Leave a post here and let us know.

Keep your eyes open for any venues that have The Jason Marks Band. They play mainly country, some covers but a lot of original stuff, too. They opened for Kenny Chesney at Walnut Creek, headlined for Riverfest and play venues across the State as well as in Wilmington. They can be seen at Wild Wing Cafe and sometimes at The BeachHouse in Ogden.
There used to be a great club, The Yellow Rose, on Market St. It closed down many years ago, but it did a great business. Someone needs to think about opening up a new place, I am sure it would do just as well as the Rose did!!
Where is the Spare Change Band going to play? I couldn’t find a Wilmington date.
I find it humorous that City Limits is considered a “country-themed” bar. Their music mix is probably 80/20. 80% hip-hop, dance music – 20% country music.
Satellite Bar on Greenfield St. has a live Bluegrass band every Sunday starting around 6:30p
I’ll never forget the “Yellow Rose”, That’s where I met the Love of my life. And we have been together for 20yrs now. We had a lot of fun times there. With friends and family. Really miss it. It would be good to have a place like that here again.
