How many murders have happened in Wilmington in the past five years?

In the last five years, from 2004 through 2008, there were 47 murders in Wilmington.

The peak year was 2008, when 12 murders were committed.

The city saw a sharp decline in 2009, with three murders as of Dec. 9.

Here’s a breakdown of murders in the previous five years in Wilmington:

2008 -12

2007 – 10

2006 – 8

2005 – 8

2004 – 9
