What is the tallest building in New Hanover County?

Chris Mazzolini
StarNews

The tallest building is the PPD tower along the riverfront in downtown Wilmington, said city planner Ron Satterfield.

The tower is 187.5 feet tall with a six-foot parapet wall, which makes the height from the street about 193 feet, Satterfield said.

How does this compare with the Murchison Building and NHRMC?

I would love to see more big buildings like this one. One caveat: That their presence does not cause the destruction of any historic structure, either for the building or for parking, or by causing a ripple effect on redevelopment in the area. The PPD building is an example of a good skyscraper in a good location, it is the first thing people see coming into downtown, and didn’t ruin any existing neighborhoods in the process.

I bet the view from the top is fantastic, too.
