What is being developed off Murrayville Road just before the bridge that crosses over I-40?

It’s the site of the future Olsen Park, a joint venture between New Hanover County and Wilmington that is being paid for with about $8.5 million from the 2006 Parks Greenspace Bond Referendum that was approved by voters.

The first phase includes 32 acres of recreational space, including five lighted softball fields, restrooms, picnic shelters and parking.

The land was purchased from Peggy Olsen, who also donated land across Interstate 40 for the Olsen Farm Soccer Fields, which are used by Port City Soccer.
