Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter has two therapists specifically to talk with children and youth individually, including expressive arts therapy, as well as group programs, said Marty Hernandez, children and youth grief counselor for the Wilmington-based facility.
The hospice also hosts a summer day camp, Sunshine Camp, targeting children dealing with the loss of a loved one.
Hernandez said Lower Cape Fear also provides support groups in the schools with the help of school counselors as well as sometimes hosting groups at the center, which is located at 1414 Physicians Drive. There is a workshop focusing on youth and the holiday time.
The support groups are free, and the summer camp has a fee, which in previous summers has been $25.
For information on any of the groups and current schedule of meetings, call Hernandez at 524-1872 or 796-7924.
The hospice also has grief support programs and groups for adults.
For information on the current schedule and registration, call 796-7991 or 796-7925.
