For at least two years, people have wondered what will be built at U.S. 17 and Hoover Road, Hampstead [Map this], to replace a motel that was torn down.
Here’s the answer.
According to Kyle Breuer, Pender County’s director of planning and community development, the property has been subdivided into two tracts.
“The property to the north, adjacent to the corner of Hoover Road and U.S. 17, has submitted site development plans to build a McDonald’s restaurant,” Breuer said. “The residual tract has submitted a master plan for a project called Cypress Station.”
Breuer said Cypress Station will consist of four commercial units on approximately 3.1 acres. According to the proposed site plan, it’s expected to accommodate a bank site of 4,000 square feet, a retail site of 10,391 square feet and total proposed office space of about 9,572 square feet.
