What is the new Taco restaurant coming up near the Food Lion strip in Rocky Point?

The new restaurant, described by Pender County Planning Director Kyle Breuer as an up-fit within the existing shopping center adjacent to the Food Lion, is called Taco Point. It will be located at 1372 N.C. 210, Suite 100.

The owner, Nancy Romero, said the restaurant will have a taco bar and salsa bar, but will not be a full menu restaurant.

“We’re going to serve authentic Mexican style tacos,” Romero said. “We’re going to try to make it as authentic as we can.”

Romero said she wanted to open up the restaurant in Rocky Point because she felt it was needed for the Hispanic population in the community and has received positive feedback already.

“They don’t have any Mexican places around here,” she said. “There’s a lot of Hispanic people around here in Rocky Point. We thought that they were needing something like this in here. They are actually really excited, whenever they hear about it, or whenever we are working there and they stop by, they are asking when we will be opening. … They say they would have to go all the way to Wallace or Wilmington and now they can just go here.”

Romero says she hopes the restaurant will be ready to open in two or three weeks.
