Why are there no basketball courts at Hugh MacRae Park?

Alex Riley
StarNews

The park was deeded to Hanover County in 1925 and various elements have been added to the park over the years, according to Parks and Gardens Director Tara Duckworth. But it doesn’t appear basketball courts were ever part of those plans.

Duckworth says the park is “built out,” meaning there won’t be any courts added to the facility in the future.

Luckily for hoop players, there are three parks in the area that have courts to fill their playing needs – Empie Park (3405 Park Ave), Roland Grise Middle School (4412 Lake Ave) and Kings Grant Park (5027 Lord Byron Rd).
