The schools combined to sell 3,587 tickets to the 4A second round playoff football game on Nov. 22, according to Hoggard athletic director Scott Braswell.
More than 2,000 were presold in the week leading up to the Hoggard’s 35-7 victory at $7 apiece with the rest purchased at the gate. That total does not include any N.C. High School Athletic Association passes that may have been used and could have added another 100 or so to the overall attendance.
While the crowd at Scott Braswell Stadium was impressive, Braswell guessed it wasn’t the largest attendance of his 17-year tenure at Hoggard. He estimated more fans packed in for the Laney-Hoggard regular season matchup on Oct. 1, 2011, when both teams entered undefeated.
