One of 7-Eleven’s growth strategies is market concentration, said Margaret Chabris, director of corporate communications for the Dallas, Texas-based convenience store chain, which operates, franchises and licenses nearly 8,700 stores in the United States and Canada.
The company is adding new stores to geographic areas where it already has a concentration, as in Chicago, Ill., or where it can buy a chain, as it did last year in Charlotte when it acquired Sam’s Mart.
Currently, 7-Eleven has no operation in Wilmington, so there are no plans to add stores here soon. This year it’s focusing on integrating the stores that were among its many acquisitions in 2012.
