Completion of Cape Fear Public Utility Authority’s water system in the Middle Sound area is a planned, but unfunded, capital project, according to CFPUA spokesperson Mike McGill.

This lack of funding has pushed the project back several years.

“Given the number of capital projects currently being managed by CFPUA, combined with its fiscal responsibilities, it is unlikely the water system will be expanded to the north side of Middle Sound Loop within the next three to five years,” McGill said.
