How many babies have been born to immigrants this year in New Hanover County?

Q. How many babies have been born to immigrants this year in New Hanover County and does anyone check to see if they are here legally?

A. None of our sources were able to answer this question or point us to anyone who could.

That information is not listed on birth records. Sources at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, the New Hanover County Board of Health and the N.C. Dept. of Health and Human Services all said that they do not track that information.

Maybe it is time someone started keeping track. If they are here illegally that means no insurance. Who is paying for all these births. Friend at work wife was expecting and they wanted to induce labor. It was set up friday and saturday but by time they got to hospital there were so many immigrants in front of them it was canceled both days. You can bet all were getting help from SS. When are we going to do something about illegal immigration?

So how exactly do you look at someone and tell if they’re here illegally? And i’m certain the hospital staff isn’t disclosing immigration information about patients that come in to give birth. This question and previously submitted comment reek of racism.

Frankly, I’m surprised the site moderators even approved posting this question and the initial reply. Star News actually expects us to pay to read stuff like this.

I do not believe the initial comment “reeks” of racism! I too, am sick of having tax money given away to people who do not even pay into our system. This is a statistic that should be tracked.
