Q. Will there ever be a sidewalk on Sloop Point Loop Road from North Topsail Elementary School into the Hampstead Kiwanis Park? Also, will there be a sidewalk/bikepath along Country Club Road?

A. The N.C. Department of Transportation is currently pursuing funding for a proposed a 8- to 10-foot multi-use path for North Topsail Elementary School, said D. Chad Kimes, Division 3 operations engineer.

The proposed path will go from the school to the Kiwanis Park on Sloop Point Loop Road, and continue on Country Club Road for approximately 500 feet, Kimes said.

“N.C. DOT is requesting funding from a program called Safe Routes to School, which is federally funded. We anticipate funding will be determined in the next few months,” Kimes said.
