Q. Flashing signs saying, “Expect Delays, Don’t Block Intersections,” have appeared in two places on Military Cutoff Road. Are they announcing future road work or an upcoming event? Perhaps trying to instill patience in drivers?
A. The signs were placed by the N.C. Department of Transportation Traffic Services Unit following a request by local officials, said Kerry T. Cross, NCDOT Division 3 resident engineer.
“In our discussions with the town of Wrightsville Beach and city of Wilmington, they wanted some advanced signage should traffic back up during a warm-weather event. So yes, they are part of the Wrightsville Beach Bridge Rehab project, but not a part of any upcoming construction event,” Cross said.
