The original Holiday Inn on Market Street opened in 1973 at 4903 Market St., beside Cedric’s Fish and Chips. Mrs. James S. Brown was the manager. It was definitely a Holiday Inn showplace with full service, located on the way to Wrightsville Beach. In the year 1990, they brought in Motions Night Club to offer some new night life in that area of town. In 1995, Motions was replaced with Splash Water Lounge and the Glass Garden Restaurant. After the inn closed, Best Valu Inn moved into the building in 2004.
