Q. Who is paying for the road widening project in front of the new McDonalds on North College Road and why did the speed limit go from 55 to 45 mph on North College between Gordon and Blue Clay roads?
A. A speed study was completed on that section of North College Road “and indicated that 45 mph was the appropriate speed limit for the current conditions,” said Katherine Hite, N.C. Department of Transportation division traffic engineer.
As for who is footing the bill for the road widening project, N .C. DOT District Engineer Anthony Law had this response:
“In accordance with department policy, the driveway permit applicant is responsible for roadway improvements to existing highway facilities,” Law said.
