The section of Gordon Road from Kerr Avenue to Netherlands Drive is identified to be included in a resurfacing contract that is being finalized, wrote Gerard Taylor, New Hanover County maintenance engineer with the N.C. Department of Transportation, in an email.
Once the contract is complete, it will be placed out for bidding and awarded to the lowest responsible bidder for the next paving season. The tentative dates for the contract to be completed are between mid-March 2013 and June 2014. That means the Gordon Road stretch could be done in the coming spring.
Taylor said improvements along that stretch of Gordon will include 2 feet of widening, milling and resurfacing.
“These improvements will increase the safety and ride quality to the motoring public,” Taylor said in the email.
