The business was listed in city directories through 1979.
A 1972 advertisement in the Wilmington City Directory listed the Golden Eagle manager as Phillip D. Davenport.
The motel had 121 rooms, air conditioning, televisions in every room, a swimming pool, room telephones and “sitter service,” the ad states.
The Wilmington Fire Department headquarters at 801 Market St. opened in January 2000.
