Q. What has caused the water in the Rocky Point-Topsail Water and Sewer District to foam this summer when it comes out of the faucet?
A. Foam out of the faucet could be caused by a couple of things – air or salt.
“If you open up a line or change a filter there’s a chance you’ve gotten air in the line,” explained Antonio Darden, general manager of The Blue Green Machine, a water treatment business in Hampstead.
There are also some areas where customers could be experiencing salt water intrusion into their water supply, he said, but he points to air as the likely culprit.
“Most likely it may just be air,” Darden said.
Attempts to get an official answer from Pender County Utilities were unsuccessful.
Darden’s tip: Turn on the faucet and let the water run at least 10 minutes.
