Q. When is the fire hydrant in front of Hoggard High School going to be repaired? It has had an orange Out Of Service bag on it for well over a month.
A. Currently, there are no fire hydrants in front of Hoggard High School in need of repair. The Wilmington Fire Department did notify Cape Fear Public Utilities Authority of a hydrant in need of repair outside Hoggard on July 17, according to CFPUA spokesperson Jaqueline Valade. The hydrant was fixed on July 20.
The Wilmington Fire Department is responsible for reporting hydrant repairs to CFPUA, which handles the public hydrants.
However, while CFPUA lists 10 fire hydrants in the immediate vicinity of Hoggard, two are on school property. Those are the responsibility of New Hanover County Schools. However, none of the hydrants on school property have an orange bag or other indication that they’re out of order.
