The White Ibus is one of the few species of birds that calls Battery Island home. The island is protected by the Audobon Societyand off limits to the public but can be seen from the annual bird watching cruise, sponsired by the Audobon Society and the Cape Fear Garden Club.

Battery Island is a National Audobon Society Sanctuary, so no people are allowed on the island.

I think visitors to Battery Island are allowed a very limited number of times in a year. The State Port Pilot of Southport could possibly give you more information.
