The Braves would play in the Advanced Class A Carolina League. Its Lynchburg, Va., franchise would relocate to Wilmington.

The rest of the league members include the Wilmington (Delaware) Blue Rocks (affiliated with the Kansas City Royals); Frederick (Md.) Keys (Baltimore Orioles); Potomac (Woodbridge, Va.) Nationals (Washington Nationals); Carolina Mudcats (Cleveland Indians); Myrtle Beach Pelicans (Texas Rangers); Salem Red Sox (Boston Red Sox, plays in the Roanoke, Va., area) and Winston-Salem Dash (Chicago White Sox).

The Wilmington team hopes to begin play in 2014.
