Where are the wells that are used by CFPUA to provide drinking water? Is the Arrowhead water tower still used?

Q. Where are the wells that are used by CFPUA to provide drinking water to New Hanover County. And is the water tower in Arrowhead (on the corner of Stillwell Avenue and Wilderness Road) still in use?

A. The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority does not release the location of its drinking-water wells, as that is considered “sensitive public security information.”

According to North Carolina general statutes, “Public records … shall not include information containing specific details of … public buildings and infrastructure facility.”

The Arrowhead water tower “has been out of service for some time and may be dismantled and relocated, but there is no funding dedicated or a site for relocation,” Carey Disney Ricks, CFPUA spokeswoman, said via email.
