The Braves’ minor-league contract with Myrtle Beach was not renewed because the owner of the Myrtle Beach franchise was part of the ownership team of the Texas Rangers
The Pelicans are owned by Myrtle Beach Pelicans LP, which is led by Chuck Greenberg.
Greenberg was the managing partner of the ownership group that bought Major League Baseball’s Texas Rangers in August 2010. Greenberg resigned as CEO of the Rangers in March 2011 but is still chairman and managing partner of the Pelicans.
That’s why the Braves moved their team to Lynchburg, Va.
