The owners of the two neighboring establishments in the North 17 Shopping Plaza – near the intersection of Market Street and Kerr Avenue – are not the same, but they are related. Maria and Shameer Lookman opened the Italian restaurant Elizabeth’s Pizza at 4304 Market St., Wilmington [Map this], in 1987, while daughter Annamaria Lookman started Mod, a jewelry and accessories boutique, at 4306 Market St., Wilmington [Map this], in 2009. In 2010, Annamaria Lookman moved next door to her parents’ space after starting out a few doors down in the Plaza on Market at 4314 Market St., Wilmington [Map this].

It’s interesting with all of the area restaurant closings in the last few years that Elizabeth’s has stayed open for almost 25 years and appears to be going strong. It’s crowded every time I go there and the food is consistently good and so is the service.
