The changes were made for safety and ADA compliance reasons.

Raised pedestrian crosswalks on the campus of the University of North Carolina Wilmington were upgraded to a more durable material for safety control and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

“UNCW has heavy pedestrian, bicycle and vehicular traffic on the roads that go through the campus and strives to make these roads as safe as possible for all users,” said Dana Fischetti, UNCW Media Relations manager.

UNCW was able to coincide the upgrades with other road maintenance to minimize costs, Fishetti said.
