There are some vacant lots that might look like they’re growing crops. However, landowner Adair Graham, who lives in Landfall, says he’s only planting clover, and the occasional sunflowers, for the wildlife.
According to Graham, the land hasn’t been used for real agriculture since the mid-1980s — about the time Landfall was first developed.
A number of farms still operate in northern New Hanover County. However, the last farm in the vicinity of Landfall — Oak Ridge Farm, which Hardy Parker and his family used for a livestock operation — was sold in 1999 to the developers of what eventually became Mayfaire.
